Frank Peyraud and Local Landscape

Dr. Greenhouse will examine the career of Frank Peyraud in relation to the development of landscape painting in Chicago from the world's Columbian Exposition through the 1920's, with attention to the painting of the prairie and of the city. Mr. Peyraud also painted in Peoria, and his paintings are included in the collections of Lakeview Museum and The Peoria Historical Society.

Dr. Greenhouse is an independent art historian specializing in the history of American art and art in Chicago. She completed her doctorate in history of art at Yale in 1989, Her interest in the history of art in Chicago began when she served as curator of painting and sculpture at the Chicago Historical Society. Dr. Greenhouse has curated several shows in the Chicago area. In 2003 Dr. Greenhouse co-authored the catalogue of the art collection of the Union League Club of Chicago. Dr. Greenhouse has written extensively on American history of painting and painters. Dr. Greenhouse has lectured at Roosevelt University, The University of Illinois at Chicago, Northwestern University, Valparaiso University, and Temple University Japan in Tokyo. She also is a consultant to several private art collectors.
