Roman Art in the Age of Caravaggio

In the late 16th and early 17th centuries (1590-1620) Rome was an exciting and vital artistic center. Caravaggio, the revolutionary advocate of painting from nature, was only one of the many talented and interesting personalities that made the city such a vibrant and creative place.

A popular lecturer at the Fine Arts Society, Dr. Mann is curator of early European Art at the St. Louis Art Museum. This will be her third appearance before the Fine Arts Society. In 2004 she presented a highly regarded program entitled "The Glorious Paintings of Federico Barocci: 16th Century Master from Urbino." And in 2006 she discussed "Five Women Artists We Should Know About and Why."

When and where to hear this lecture: Thursday, December 10, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. at the Lakeview Museum, 1125 W. Lake Ave., Peoria, Illinois.
