Kristan McKinsey
A Journey Through the Art of India
Kristan McKinsey, Vice President of Collections and Exhibitions at Peoria's Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences, presents an overview of Indian architecture, sculpture and painting. She demystifies an art that may seem exotic by emphasizing her personal experiences living with and studying the rich artistic heritage of a colorful historic culture.
Prior to joining Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences in 1996, Kristan McKinsey served as Collections Curator at the Evanston Historical Society in Evanston, Illinois (1991-1996), and as the Acting Assistant Curator in Decorative Arts at the Saint Louis Art Museum in St. Louis, Missouri (1984-1990). She earned her BA at Swarthmore Colege and her MA at the University of Delaware where she completed a Fellowship in Early American Culture at The H.F. duPont Winterthur Museum. She has curated numerous exhibits, authored many articles and is in demand as a lecturer and consultant.
