Munch's Modernity

Dr. Chametzky introduces the work of Norwegian artist Edvard Munch (1863-1944), highlighting aspects of his style and content that are "modern."

An Associate Professor of Art History at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale since 1998, Dr. Chametzky earned his B.A. at Cornell University and his Ph.D. at the Graduate School and University Center, City University of New York (CUNY). A prolific writer in both English and German, Dr. Chametzky is currently working on a book entitled, Objects as History in Twentieth-Century German Art: Beckmann to Beuys. He has served as President of the Historians of German and Central European Art and Architecture Society since 2005 and as Assistant Editor of Centropa, journal of central european architecture and related arts since 2002. Papers, presentations and lectures round out Dr. Chametzky's many professional involvements.
