Ansel Adams: A Son's Perspective

(co-sponsored with Lakeview Museum)

Photographs by Ansel Adams are universally recognized and admired, and, because he shaped many of our current views of the natural world, he is considered a major cultural figure in American history. Several of the truly compelling pictures he made of the American wilderness will be featured in this lecture by his son, Dr. Michael Adams. Among them are images taken early on when father and son were together at Yosemite National Park, in the High Sierra and in the Southwest. The program was scheduled as an introduction to the Lakeview Museum exhibit "Classic Images: Photography by Ansel Adams," which will begin on Nov. 11, 2006, and run through March 4, 2007.

Currently Chairman of the Board of the Ansel Adams Galleries at Yosemite and Monterey, California, Michael Adams is a retired internist and also a retired Major General in the Air National Guard/USAF. When he is not flying, skiing or sight-seeing, he returns to Fresno and University Medical Center to volunteer as an attending physician in the Adult Clinic.

When and where to hear this lecture: Thursday, November 9, 2006, at 10 a.m., Lakeview Museum, 1125 West Lake Ave., Peoria, Illinois.
