James Richerson
Exploring the Roman Port of Leptiminus
In the mid-1990s Mr. Richerson, currently president and CEO of Lakeview Museum, worked with an international team of archaeologists studying the remains of the ancient North African port of Leptiminus. The team‘s efforts there culminated in the creation of an on-site museum to house important artifacts unearthed during the excavations. Mr. Richerson will reflect on the significance of the Leptiminus project and show slides offering us a visual feast of Roman mosaics, tiles, pottery, amphorae and an exquisite terracotta funerary mask.
