Soundless Poetry: Chinese Painting
Whether it be the colorful, detailed style of the professional artists or the freer yet more austere mode of aristocratic and scholarly amateurs, Chinese painting has always charmed Western viewers. Focusing on the development and ideals of these varying traditions, Mr. Nigro will discuss the complex relationship between them and acquaint us with major masterpieces of Chinese painting. Among these are items from the growing collection at the Art Institute of Chicago, where he is Director of Adult Programs in the Department of Museum Education.
